Welcome to Brooklyn to the Catskills!

I’m Katie Fiore, a growth marketer and mom of two based in Brooklyn, NY.

When it comes to entertaining I have lived my life by the motto “anything worth doing is worth overdoing” for as along as I can remember.  I think it started growing up in a family with an Italian grandmother who for Christmas dinner would bake nine different kinds of cookies and three different pies – baking would start weeks in advance.  Easter had mincemeat pies and braided loaves of bread with an egg baked in the middle.    For my birthday she would always make me a 3D doll cake, wearing an elaborately decorated gown. Needless to say the bar was set quite high for my idea of “normal”!

For several years my family has been coming to the Catskills on the weekends, our attempt to live the best of both worlds – a busy life in the city during the week followed by a much slower life in the country where we spend non-stop family time together.  The balance has been great, and even the time we spend in the car driving back and forth has become fun family time together.  The best part is we see more and more people visiting here on the weekend who are from Brooklyn, and we see locals here who are opening up shops to try and turn that traffic into business, revitalizing their communities.
