4th of July 2017 Events in the Catskills
With the 4th of July 2017 literally around the corner it’s time to start mapping out your celebratory agenda. The good news is there are a ton of events all over the Catskills spread out over a number of days, so you can hit everything and not have to choose between events.
Below is your complete list of 4th of July events being held through out Sullivan County, the events are organized by day to make it easy to find what will fit with your schedule. Have fun and be safe!
Saturday, July 1
A Gathering at Bethel Woods
3:00 pm – 9:00 pm
RAIN DATE – The rain date is Sunday, July 2.
The second annual A Gathering at Bethel Woods: Celebrating Peace, Love & Music returns on Saturday, July 1. Festivities kicks off at 3 p.m., and will include live music, guided museum tours, interpretive walks and talks about the historic Woodstock festival site, a variety of activities and games, collaborative art projects, and an array of activities fun for the whole family, topped off by a fireworks display at dusk.
Schedule of Events:
- Docent tours starting every half hour from 11am to 7pm (start in the Museum Lobby)
- Grounds tours at 3pm-5pm-7pm (start on the Terrace Patio)
- Backstage tours every half hour from 3pm to 8pm (start at the top of the lawn entrance
- 3:30pm: Preserving Woodstock – A Town Hall Meeting: with Woodstock organizer Joel Rosenman, Santana’s Michael Carabello,NYS Historic Preservation Michael Lynch and Museum Director Wade Lawrence – Moderated by Times Herald-Record Executive Editor Barry Lewis
- Curator Talk at 4pm & 6pm (start at the Special Exhibit Gallery entrance)
- Site preservation tour at 5pm (starts on the Terrace Patio)
- The Museum will offer $10 admission for the day (free for Sullivan County residents with I.D.), and there will be a variety of local vendors offering food and beverages, as well as handmade jewelry, gifts, crafts and more. The Museum open until 8:30pm.

Kauneonga Fireworks
9:00 pm – 11:00 pm
Fireworks at Kauneonga Lake start at dusk, Kauneonga Community Park, Route 55E, Whitle Lake

Sunday, July 2
Monticello Raceway Fireworks
10:00
Monticello Raceway will have its annual Fireworks show on Sunday July 2nd at 10 pm. For decades the Monticello Raceway fireworks have been lighting up the sky and bringing smiles to many. Executive Director of Racing & Facilities Shawn Wiles, noted that there is a slight departure from the norm, and that there will be no live Harness Racing that evening.
Admission is free for the fireworks display.
