I know, I know, life is so busy and you keep meaning to take that weekend trip to the Catskills but you just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Enough. Just stop. I’m here to tell you that it is time to make it happen, no more excuses, just get in the car and go. This weekend cannot be missed it brings with the the rare, ultimate Catskills trifecta of:

- Not one but TWO Pumpkin festivals going on on Saturday!
Now that you’ve made the executive decision to JUST GO ALREADY your biggest challenge is going to try and hit both festivals in the same day.
It’s Literally a Giant Pumpkin Party
I am not exaggerating when I say that the Giant Pumpkin Party is epic. This is our no-hold-barred absolute favorite event of the year, with literally giant pumpkins on display competing for prizes. And that’s just the beginning! There is a hay bale throwing contest (with separate categories for men and women), fresh apple cider donuts, a HAY MAZE, music, a costume march and that’s just the beginning! Pumpkin Fest, Where You Can Win a Prize for Eating Pie!
The Pumpkin Fest in Barryvile is another fantastic pumpkin-themed day with more contest to get your competitive spirit going! This is a smaller festival but that is actually a good thing because everything is so accessible. There are lots of fun vendors and, of course, hay rides, live music and lots of amazing food. So if you can’t make it to the Giant Pumpkin Festival be sure to stop by Pumpkin Fest, you will be glad you did!
Fun Contests
11:00am – Bake-Off
Categories: Sweet or Savory
Recipes must contain pumpkin.
Entries must be submitted by 11am.
The basic recipe and a serving for 6-8 should be provided.
Noon – Pumpkin Pre-Decorated / Pre-Carved
Submit Pre-Decorated Pumpkins
Entries must be submitted on premises by 11:00am. Awards at 1pm.
Noon – Scarecrow Design
Create a Scarecrow throughout the day. Judging 2:30pm. Winners announced at 3pm.
1:00pm – Costumes
Categories: Adults, Kids & Pets
Judging from 1:00-2:00pm. Winners announced directly afterwards.
3:00pm – Scarecrow Stories Shared and Winners Announced
4:00pm – Pie Eating
Categories: Adults & Kids
Winners announced directly after each contest.
